Thanks for praying for Jamie; he is now at home. However, he went through the surgery; 5 stents were put in; then he was moved to a room. When in his room he coded; which is almost flatlining. However he is at home resting as of Sat. or Sun. He still needs to have one more stent put in place at a later date, so please keep him in your prayers.

Godfirst, I write God an the word first togetheir because that's the position that I want his presents in my life. Now I ask that God helps me to give to his kingdom what's rightfully his, my resources.

Thank-you for your grace today Lord!!

I requested prayers for my sister Kelly; she had biopsies to determine if she had breast cancer. Her first set came back benign. Praise the Lord. Once she heals she has two more places to test. Thank you for your prayers as this one was answered. Say another one please for her next set. God Bless each and every one of you! Believe in the Power of Prayer!

Good article, John! It does give us reason to pause. I have to say the conclusions I have made about my existence and purpose have been evolving for the last 56 years. That's because my knowledge continues to increase and, therefore, my understanding or interpretation of the accumulated factual knowledge I possess requires that I adjust my conclusions.

I believe that anyone who is honest about their quest for purpose or destiny will end up having to face the truth contained in the facts that are in front of us all. The earth and all that is in it is simply too complex to be the result of some cosmic accident. There must be a creator. Honest evaluation of the facts will bring one to this conclusion. The question then remains, who is He, she, it? A look around the world at human "religions" will tell you that almost every society, every culture, has somehow concluded that there is a "god" but "who" or "what" is this god? Even atheist, if they are honest, believe in something - mother earth or something. And I don't believe an agnostic is being honest.

My research and evaluation of the facts always brings me back to the "Christian faith". But that's not to say I am religious. Quite the contrary. "Christian religion" is a big stumbling block for me and I think for many others. I'm an intelligent being who was obviously put together or created by some other form of intelligence. Religion generally stymies my attempts to know about my creator. Religion gives me all kinds of hoops to jump through just to be qualified to know about the creator. But as the created being, I need to know the creator to know what it is that constitutes my purpose.

The manufacturer of cars knows the purpose of each model. The creator of art knows what he/she wants to say with their art. I have to presume that my creator knows why I was created and what purpose I am to fulfill. Therein, lies the desire found universally throughout our race. "Why am I here?" That desire leads us to ask the questions you mentioned at the beginning of your article. "Is this all there is?"

But the very concept that I could have a vital and organic relationship with the creator of me and my world is one of the primary reasons I am a follower of Jesus. You see, He gives me the opportunity to have that relationship. I have come to realize that religion tells me my role is minimal and marginal and that Jesus saved me so I could go to heaven and worship Him for eternity. How small is that?

But relationally, I am given purpose and destiny. Within any relationship there is purpose. As a husband, and father, a friend, a leader, or in any other relationship, my role is defined and I know my purpose. Each and every day my relationship with my creator gives me the opportunity to get first hand guidance and direction from my creator. As my life progresses, my faith grows and my purpose becomes clearer and clearer.

I can't imagine life without my God. As my creator He gave me purpose before I was created. As my redeemer, He bought me back because He loved me and wanted me to fulfill my purpose and destiny. As my King, He empowers me with His authority and His power. As my Daddy, He loves me and cares for me and cherishes my relationship with Him.

I pity the person who doesn't ask, "Is this all there is?" because they may never know what I know. I know there is more, much more.

I find it amazing that a perfect God chooses to use less than perfect us. That said, I am aslo glad that He does. One thing is for sure... When the power of God is manifest through an imperfect vessel such as myself noone stares and revels at me or my capabilities. They revel at God's grace and sovereignty. So praise God for having a sense of irony and allowing us to join Him in His plan.
