PRAYER REQUEST: 3/12

I ask that everyone please take a moment and say a prayer for Anne and Michael Walleck. Their only son, Jeremy, took his life a week ago at the very young age of 23.  His father, Michael, found him and it’s something he will never forget and is struggling everyday with what he saw.

They are struggling and suffering not knowing why this happened or what type of “demons” he was struggling with to commit such an act after being raised in church.

This has hit a very small community very hard and many aren’t able to deal with what has happened.  Especially the younger cousins and such because there are no answers as to why someone would do this.

This weekend my friends mom lost her battle with cancer.  Jason is devastated as his mom was his best friend and he isn’t doing so well with the situation as a whole. Can you please keep the Hanna family in your prayers – his mom was so young at only 56 and this has been a difficult time for all of us that loved Kaye and her family.

Please be in prayer for a coworker here at Ansira.

Whitney & her husband were in a very serious accident on Friday evening. Whitney has been treated and released from the hospital. Her husband endured a lengthy surgery and is still in the hospital. He will need 12 weeks of rehab once the initial trauma has subsided.  Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers.

PRAYER REQUEST: 2/16

Engagers –

Please put Jeannie Croft York in your prayers, she was diagnosed with Stage IV Breast Cancer about a year and a half ago, the cancer had spread to her bones.  She found out when she stepped off a curb and her femur broke.  The doctor told her she would never live to see her 13 year old graduate.   My sister had breast cancer at 42 in advanced stages and has survived and my mom as well.  We took her to lunch and my sister hooked her up with some of her doctors.  She was cancer free for about 6 months or so and had a follow up pet scan 10 days ago.  The results revealed 2 spots, one on her pelvic bone and one on her spine or one of the bones in her back.  Jeannie is 43 years old.

I would also like to add Donnie Siegler to our prayer list as well whom is also diagnosed with cancer.

With love Andi K.

PRAYER REQUEST: 2/2

For those of you that know me – I have been a volunteer for Make-A-Wish for about seven years, I grant wishes to children with life threatening illnesses.

Tuesday night I was able to tell a young lady (Lesley) and her mom (Patti) that they were going to go to Italy this summer!  This particular wish has taken quite some time to get approval on for two reasons:  1.) International wishes have been suspended for about three years due to the economy 2.) She was adamant about taking her best friend with her who was her older brother.  Siblings over 18 are not allowed to participate in travel wishes unless a family member claims them as a dependent.  So that’s exactly what her mother did in 2011 since he was a college student.

We got approval last week to tell Lesley that not only was she going to get to go to Italy with her mom – but that she was going to get to take her best friend with her who was her older brother.  This spunky 18 year old high school senior couldn’t sit still long enough at the restaurant to wait and call her brother to tell him.  She said she was going to wake him as soon as she got in the car.  I have no doubt Lesley probably went over the itinerary’s with him and they were going to decide on which tour to take together!

At dinner Patti couldn’t stop talking about how proud she was of her son.  He just finished his masters and Berkley had offered him a full ride starting in the fall to do his PhD there in classics.  Lesley was so excited about it because she said they couldn’t have a better tour guide to travel the world with if they asked for it.  They both loved him dearly and were beyond proud.

Lesley expressed that night, this past Tuesday, was one of the greatest moments of her life.  She said it couldn’t have come at a better time for her.  Patti expressed that Lesley’s latest diagnosis was less than favorable.  And she is to be placed in the hospital Monday and Tuesday of next week for testing of some “new” treatments that she will endure everyday probably for the remainder of her life.  Lesley didn’t care she said – so it’s a daily shot, I’ll be fine – I’m healthy and alive.

Last night I got a text from her mom expressing some tragic news – her son (Lesley’s brother) was found dead in his dorm room and they were on a plane at the time already on their way to Amhurst.  Her brother was epileptic and apparently died from a seizure at some point yesterday.

These are two very special woman who could use your prayers during this time.  Patti and Lesley are both in shock and will probably have a challenge coping with the days to come – so any prayers you can make for them – would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

TGIF: Secret Places

Posted In: Praise Report by Michael
TGIF Today God Is First Volume 2 by Os Hillman
Thursday, January 12 2012

I will give you the treasures of darkness, riches stored in secret places, so that you may know that I am the LORD, the God of Israel, who summons you by name (Isa 45:3).

When God takes you to a depth of soul experience be alert to new truths and new perspectives. During these times God often leads us to amazing new discoveries. It can be a storehouse of unexpected riches for the soul.

Bible teacher F. B. Meyer once observed, “Whenever you get into a prison of circumstances, be on watch. Prisons are rare places for seeing things. It was in prison that Bunyan saw his wondrous allegory and Paul met the Lord and John looked through heaven’s open door and Joseph saw God’s mercy. God has no chance to show His mercy to some of us except when we are in some distressing sorrow. The night is the time to see the stars.”1

I began writing TGIF Today God Is First daily devotionals in the middle of a seven year period of darkness. Today, the devotionals are read daily by hundreds of thousands of people around the world. God has revealed to me secret things that have benefited countless others. Writing has become a central focus of God’s work in me. If I had not gone through that dark time, I wouldn’t be an author today.

We must live each day to the fullest. We can’t live in the past or in the future. We must live in the moment that God gives us right now. Our time of deliverance will come according to God’s schedule. Meanwhile, we need to be faithful in doing what God has given us to do and be content in the place where He has placed us.

When we go through a trial of adversity, we need to understand that God is performing radical surgery on our life. The purpose of this surgery is not to destroy us, but to give us a new heart. God is making a fundamental change in who we are and who we will be.

And, He will always reveal treasures from these secret places if we are willing to walk through the process patiently.
